MEMBER INTRODUCTION
Christopher K. Wrampelmeier practices exclusively family law and became board certified in family law by the Texas Board of Legal Certification in 2000. Besides litigation, he prepares premarital and marital property agreements, represents clients in collaborative law matters, and mediates family lawsuits. He frequently speaks on family law issues at the local and state levels. Chris is a past chair of the Texas State Bar’s Family Law Section. He is Co-Chair of the Section’s Formbook Committee, Family Code Committee, and Future of Family Law Committee. He is active in the Texas Family Law Foundation (TFLF) and headed its Bill Review Committee from 2007 to 2022. He is a recipient of TAFLS's Sam Emison Award as well as the Family Law Section's Dan Price Award, Joseph W. McKnight Best Family Law CLE Article Award, and Chair's Award. He also received TFLF's Alison Unger Award for Outstanding Leadership during the Legislative Process, and the Panhandle Family Law Association's Leadership Award. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, listed in The Best Lawyers in America, and rated by Super Lawyers.
Mr. Wrampelmeier was born in Amman, Jordan into a State Department family. He lived in Saudi Arabia and Zambia, in addition to Washington, DC. His high school years were at Groton School, a boarding school in Groton, Massachusetts. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Near Eastern Studies from Princeton University. Upon graduation, he served four years on active duty as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army, mostly in West Germany. Chris received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Texas School of Law in 1993 and began his practice with the Underwood Law Firm in Amarillo that fall.
Chris is the Archdeacon of the Episcopal Diocese of Northwest Texas. He is a twice past president of the Panhandle Family Law Association, a former president of the Amarillo-Panhandle Humane Society, and the counselor for the Downtown Women’s Center. He and his wife, Hortencia, have three adult children, two of whom are married, and share their house with a dog and cat.
