Jonathan Bates

MEMBER INTRODUCTION

For more than thirty years, Jonathan J. Bates has concentrated his practice in the areas of complex property and child related cases. In addition to his trial practice, he is a mediator and AAML certified arbitrator. He was the 2021-2022 Chair of the Family Law Section of the State Bar, the 2016-2017 President of TAFLS and the 2023-2024 President of the Texas Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. Mr. Bates was recognized as the 2024 Sam Emison Award recipient, the SBOT Family Law Section co-recipient for the Chair's Award and the 2020 National AAML co-recipient of Fellow of the Year. He is a Diplomat in The American College of Family Trial Lawyers. Mr. Bates is also an accomplished author and presents frequently at continuing education programs for the State Bar of Texas and other family law organizations across the state.
